...because you can't change the world, but you can make a dent...

So, um, we were supposed to be at BAJA Cantina tonight. Not Cabo Cantina. Nor Q's (but that was just an afterthought after we showed up at Cabo w/o recognizing a single person, except for the older guy leaning against the pillar, though Stacy wasn't sure where she recognized him from so we thought we should just avoid him altogether).

But hey, take a table given to us by some old guys, the trio we shared the table with, the plate of chips and guac they bought us for sharing the table, and the oh-so-tasty (even post bad bad night) patron margaritas, and some quality time w/ Stace, and we've got one hell of a Wednesday night.

Life should always be full of spontenaity and back up plans. Especially after kickboxing the hell out of those BIM bags. To sexy Jay's commands. Oh the butterflies.

Good god tomorrow morning is going to smart.

Mell and I need to begin blogging like that other Angela and Melissa duo out there. Then we'll see who the REAL Angela and Melissa are.

I procured this from Michelle's site.

5.29.2006

I'm supposed to post about how amazingly fun AZ was, (and it was amazingly fun-- thanks Michelle for having us all weekend), but I need to hold off on that for a bit.

There's just something unfair about life and cirucumstance and timing and all that crap. Really, it's just crap. That's what I think about it.

5.26.2006

So I haven't posted a "such the proud aunt" post in awhile. It's TIME.

So Lleyton just had his 1st birthday a couple of weeks ago. Homeboy has finally learned to tolerate car rides, thank god, and soon will be walking up a storm.

Bethany is a cute little button these days, imitating everything Joshua does to the T. And I can't wait for her new Old Navy outfit to make its way out onto the runway: camo green cut off mini skirt with woven belt, linen sleeveless blouse with a little ruffled design. Watch out boys!

Joshua just GRADUATED... (from preschool). He starts kindergarten in August and will be quite the overachiever.

And my newest addition, Isabel!! No, don't worry, Cal and Christine didn't pop out another kid while you weren't looking (though I wouldn't put it past them, given their track record). Isabel was born in January to my good friends Kristine and Ben, and I love being her a yi as well. And if I married Kristine's brother, I would be such the proud jiu ma. haha. here's a link to Kristine's blog, with a million pictures of Isabel (and a pretty cute one of me and Kristine). PS, I freaked when I saw Isabel in the high chair. she's so big now! (and of course we're going to set her up with Lleyton. obviously.)

Ok, enough of campus for today. Can you tell how much work I'm getting done?

Great lunch, btw. Dan rocks.

I heart my friends. (I wish I could heart cake, but apparently not these days).

It's a nice reminder of how beautiful life can be when people go out of their way to do something nice for you.

happy Friday y'all. I have a date with the dolphins later.

Sometimes a posh and overpriced Montana Ave. pint + a good cry are more rejuvenating than that power nap. Especially when you top that off with a TAD 11a (of its own kind).

Agenda items:
-Feast from the East
-kayaking
-the Counter
-Westwood Country Market and Cafe
-LAX to PHOENIX!

oh yeah, work in there somewhere.

5.24.2006

Eric: That's it. I've got a date with a beer.
Ang: Hope she puts out.
Eric: Beer always does.

One of my FAVORITE Friends' moments is on syndication. Monica is sent home from work sick, but won't admit she's sick. "I'm fine...d. Fine...d. Oh, it's a hard word to say." Then someone knocks on the door, and all the friends look around at each other because they're all there.

(how's that for FOUR in a row, matteeeo?)

Topped out that V3 orange X (that "counted" for all intensive purposes, even though I didn't start it from the bottom my last time around)! Not only have I gotten comfortable not just hitting the moves but trying different versions of the moves, but Pacey and I were working the same route, and he usually climbs so much harder than me. Mell says I should date him because "we all know he's cute." Haha. The target guy is cuter AND less bitchy when he doesn't climb well. :)

Etiquette tips:
1. Ask your neighbors to turn down the party before you call the cops on them, you crazy old hag (or non-crazy young 20's guy).
2. Careful with the money talks. Money talks, but not well when it's all judgmental and stuff.
3. Jump right on in checking out the hot girls when there are no hot guys present. Which is usually.
4. Let your friends gush about their boyfriends. If they're happy, you should be happy too. No matter how single you feel, dammit. :)

5.23.2006

Two blogs in a row. I MUST be procrastinating.

I think I'm really itching for some sense of accomplishment. I don't think it's this impending birthday that's putting the pressure, it's just feeling uncomfortably unmotivated and unproductive for way too many months now. Maybe that's why I really want to climb Half Dome this summer. Because it's something I know I'll have to train to do but will still have an extremely difficult time with, and lots of opportunities to give up and turn around. And it gives me incentive to make it up to 7000' as many weekends I can from now until the end of July. Last weekend was one. And boy was it gorgeous.

OK, time to goal set. Put it in writing and publish it, dammit.
1. Send off unfinished proposal by Friday.
2. Finish 2nd year project before next school year.
3. On-sight a 10b featured face climb out in Holcomb by the end of June.
4. Lose 5 lbs. by end of June. had to slip that one in there.
5. Reach full emotional health by the end of June.

Ok, that works for me for now.

5.18.2006

confused, doubting, and kind of tired, but oddly liberated.

I'm ok.

(how's that for obnoxiously vague? haha)

Extra light olive oil, anyone? And can I say that I'm so using the word "reacquainted" from now on?

Festivities ensue Friday night. Hopefully all that meat, beer, and spiked Capri Sun neon fun won't take all the energy away from climbing.

And also, Happy Birthday David!
